I have had a crocheted rose doily in progress for some time. I’d work on it until my hands were aching, and then put it away again, but I’ve finally finished it now. It’s not exactly what I wanted, but you know, I’m just not going to crochet another one. I’ve had it with these designs. So this is it for me. This one is crocheted out of #10 crochet thread and measures about 18.5″ across.

I took the center from another doily pattern you see all over the place, and I took the roses from the doilies I’d already done. The edging just grew out of what was there. Anyway, it’s over–done–finished. That’s the last rose of summer or any other time I hope to do.
Early Accomplishments
I’ve been seeking a knitting booklet I used to use that had a lot of baby things in it. I wanted to check to see if a bootie pattern I remembered was in it. I haven’t been able to locate it anywhere. At one this morning, I woke up sick; I tried to make myself believe that I wasn’t sick and that I could go back to sleep when it came to me. Like a flash from out of nowhere, I knew where that missing knitting booklet was. I got up to check. Sure enough, it was there. I was so pleased I stayed up and worked on my knitting.
Before I went to bed last night I was knitting on my Leda’s Dream; I draped the stole out to look at it, and I realized that about five rows back I’d knitted part of a row that I should have purled. I wonder where my mind was about then? Right across the smooth stockinette stitches on the right side was this bumpy purl row. Well, because it involved so many stitches that needed to be dropped down to repair and because the error went across lace stitches, I decided to tink those rows. After I found the pattern booklet early this morning, I was so charged that I quickly tinked those rows out on my Leda, and by the time I normally get up, I had found the booklet and repaired my mistake too. I thought that was a good way to start the day. Unfortunately, I’ve been nodding off all day, but that the price of victory, I guess.
