I got my Leda’s Dream Stole finished last night, and thank goodness, I won’t have to order more yarn. This is it fresh off the needles. The ends haven’t even been woven in. I doubled it to get it in the photo. I had only this much left.

That’s cutting it pretty close, but not as close as I thought it might be. I had visions of getting down to the last three inches and not having enough. So that means I finally finished that pound cone of teal Jaggerspun Zephyr yarn I bought way back when. In case you’re interested, I made the Forest Path Stole, the Peace Shawl, the Creatures of the Reef, and Leda’s Dream out of it. Pretty good, I think. I was glad to finish it. I love the color, but I’m TIRED of it!

Knitting Pattern-a-Day

I saw the new Knitting Pattern-a-Day Calendar for 2006 in at Borders the other day and I took it home with me. There’s a cap in it that I thought would do for another chemo cap for Mother. (BTW, she’s starting her chemo at long last on Thursday of this week.) I liked several patterns in the collection, and I will share my list of those I’m most interested in. (I wrote them down so I wouldn’t have trouble finding them again later.)

I’m Twining For You Socks–(Feb. 11 & 12) These socks feature the twining technique from Sweden which I thought might be fun. So I’d get to try a new technique and have the fun of the little hearts on the socks too. Not bad.

Mexican Knitting Tote Bag–(March 1) This is a smart-looking bag that could hold anything.

Allison’s Scarf (Jan 19) and Intertwined Cables Scarf (March 14)–These are two Seaman’s Scarves with nice designs on them.

Absolutely, Positively Reversible Scarf (April 6)–This is a nice, usable scarf you don’t have to worry about wearing face up.

Trio Tote Bag (June 23)–This is probably the neatest looking bag I’ve seen in ages. I love the colors they did it in.

(I thought the American Flag Dog Sweater was in terrible taste on July 5. I didn’t much care for the Canadian Flag Dishcloth on July 1 & 2 either.)

The Bump City Bag by Jill Vosburg (July 18) still looks great.

(I had a laugh at the Book Cover on Aug. 10. It reminded me of a teacher I taught with years ago who brought her lurid romances to class to read on while she made the kids do busy work. She always hid the romances in a book cover, but everyone knew what they were.)

Beehive Hat (Aug. 28) This is the hat I want to make Mother. I will omit the button bees, though, to keep it soft. I think it looks a little like a bee skep.

Marshfield Sock (Nov. 22) These socks look delightful with that row of flowers and plaid on the toes and around the tops. Wonder if I could do those toe up?

Anyway, that’s what appeals to me right now. There were too many striped teen tops, I thought; I didn’t see a whole lot of difference in them. I thought the shawls in it were too plain. I guess they’re going for quick, though. For a collection of small projects that doesn’t tax your brain too much, this is it.
