It has taken me longer to get over that cold than I thought it would. I have been really miserable. I suffered through nearly a month of it, and went a week without most of the worst symptoms, and then on Mother’s Day, I came down with it again. This time it lasted only two days, but I’m really getting gun shy over this bug, whatever it is. I hope I’ve finally kissed that thing goodbye.
Point of Conflict

Would you believe this innocent cup has been the point of a lot of conflict in my house? John likes coffee cups with big bases. He says they are less likely to tip over, which I suppose is true. With all our cats, that’s a plus. Anyway, he’s had only one that he really likes, but now and then he sets it down and forgets where he put it. One time it went missing for several months. I think at that time, it was holing up in the basement when John finally located it. So the other day in the grocery store, I saw this travel coffee cup, and it had a big base on it, and I since I knew John would like to have another, I picked it up for him. In the store, this thing was red, I’ll swear on a stack of Bibles it was. On my computer, this photo even looks kind of red to me. It sat for several days in the cabinet before he tried it, and when he did, he he came into the den with it and said, in a tiny little girly voice, “You got me a nice pink cup!” I told him it was red. He kept mentioning the pink cup all day long. Finally, he was in the kitchen with it, and I looked at it in there, where there’s better light, and darn! That cup is pink! I know that was red when I bought it. So yesterday, I sighed and bought another cup. This time I got green! I hope that’s neutral enough.
Hear My Book

I have riches! Recently, I bought Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander on audio CDs. I was so thrilled to find it at a reasonable price; it is the unabridged version narrated by Davina Porter–28 CDs. So for the past week, when I’ve been down here working on the computer, I’ve been listening to the CDs. What a great book that is, whether you read it or hear it, it is fun. I could hardly wait to get them out of the box and start listening to them.
New Crazy Quilt Effort
I have been working on a new crazy quilt block. It’ll be 12″ square when it’s done. I don’t think it’s worth working on to make a block smaller–not for me, anyway. If you’re swapping them, I guess that’s different. This is the unadorned block. I’ll try to keep you informed as I make progress on it.

Tote Bag
Some years ago, I attended a Singer seminar on their new embroidery machine. As part of the day, we made a tote bag–well, we made a stab at finishing it anyway. It was primarily an excuse to try their embroidery. I left it as it was, as I wasn’t too interested in it. The other day, I ran across it again, and I decided to finish it. Might as well, as it required very little to be done. I don’t know why I leave things nearly done like this. Anyway, here it is. What I’ll use it for, I don’t know. I suppose it would be fine for carrying some sock knitting should I need something for that.
